#97 Scooterworks Bar

All bars should have the word 'bar' outside in red neon. Or they don't count.

A hipster bar isn’t just for Shoreditch. Like ex-pat pubs in Torremolinos, these bars can be found hidden all over the capital, full of boys in tight-fitting cardies and unlikely trousers, and women in frilly dresses and their grandmother’s hairdos. Scooterworks on Lower Marsh in Waterloo is one of them – a home-away-from-home for educated, trendy youth. The presence of vintage charm, including real scooters propped up around the place, gives it a straight-outta-Hoxton kind of vibe, but it’s chilled and friendly enough that older locals wander in and out. Of course they sell Negra Modelo, the art student’s drink of choice. It’s worth going just to meet the resident cat, who has seen everything under the sun and can no longer be surprised.
